Deepak Chopra is a renowned global personality who was born on October 22, 1947, in India and later on immigrated to America. Along with being a physician, he is a writer, who writes on Ayurveda and spirituality. He is the author of more than 70 books, including numerous New York Times bestsellers. His medical training is in internal medicine and endocrinology, and he is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologist, and an adjunct professor of Executive Programs at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University Columbia Business School, adjunct professor at Columbia Business School, Columbia University, and a Senior Scientist at the Gallup organization. He also has participated as a lecturer at the internal Medicine, an annual event sponsored by Harvard Medical School’s department of Continuing Education and the Department of Medicine.
In high school, Chopra wanted to be a journalist or an actor. It was a character in the Sinclair Lewis story Arrowsmith, that inspired him to become a doctor.
After finishing his graduation from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences he married to Rita Chopra in 1970. He then went to the United States of America. Now he is the father of two children, son Gotham Chopra and daughter Mallika Chopra.

Chopra changed the spelling of his given name from “Gautama” to “Gotham” because he was tired of being mispronounced in the United States. He is a partner in Chopra Media, with his sister Mallika Chopra.
Gotham is also a well-regarded documentary filmmaker. In 2012, he directed and produced Decoding Deepak, a feature on his father that premiered at the SXSW. He also directed Bulletproof Monk in 2003, and Kobe Bryant’s Muse in 2015. Within weeks< another documentary film Gotham directed on Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar entitled The Little Master. Later in 2015, he directed and produced ‘I Am Gaint'.
